The United States ranks third in the list of countries with the most number of people with tattoos. Based on the survey gathered by Dalia, about 46 percent of Americans have at least one tattoo inked on their bodies. The country is only beaten by one percent by Sweden, while Italy ranked on top of the list with the most number of people with tattoo. Even Hollywood celebrities have already caught up with the popularity of getting inked. Some of them got inked to honor a special person in their lives like Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

Meanwhile, others like Justin Bieber expressed their spirituality with a tattoo. There are also several famous people like Dua Lipa who joined the trend of getting rose tattoos. But there are other celebrities who chose to get matching tattoos with their loved ones. Here is a list of stars and their partners who got matching inks.

Celebrity Couples With Matching Tattoos

It has become the norm for a lot of celebrity couples to show their love for each other by getting matching tattoos. One of the famous pairs to do this is rapper Travis Scott and lipstick mogul Kylie Jenner, who both had a tiny butterfly inked on their ankles even before their daughter Stormi was born in 2018. Newlyweds Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner also decided to and matching ink to their tattoo collections. This time, they chose a famous quote from the film “Toy Story” which says “To infinity & beyond.”

Even long-term couple Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus also has their own matching tattoos. They each got a line from an iconic speech by Theodore Roosevelt. Hemsworth’s ink says “If he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly,” while the one on Cyrus reads, “So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.” The couple got married in December 2018, but they announced their decision to split in August 2019. Fortunately, the two opted not to put the names of each other on their skin. This is one of the cliche tattoos that most tattoo artists hate doing for their clients.

Celebrity Families With Matching Tattoos

It’s not only couples–some stars also chose to get inked with their relatives. The list includes Joe Jonas and his brother and band mate Nick. The two got matching arrow tattoos that points to each other when they stand together. Cousins Ireland and Hailey Baldwin also showed family pride by having matching tattoos of their famous surname on their middle finger.

Celebrity Friends With Matching Tattoos

Strong friendships can be formed between famous people. This could lead them to do crazy stuff together as part of their bonding activities. One of these friendships include the lead cast members of “Pretty Little Liars.” The ladies decided to ink the initials of their characters on their index finger. This happened after they finished working on their final season in 2017. Troian Bellisario got an “S” for Spencer Hastings, Shay Mitchell has an “E” for Emily Fields, Lucy Hale got an “A” for Aria Montgomery, Ashley Benson has an “H” for Hanna Marin, Sasha Pieterse also got an “A” for Alison DiLaurentis, and Janel Parrish had an “M” inked for Mona Vanderwaal.

Meanwhile, the trend of getting matching tattoos between cast mates-turned-friends caught up on the set of Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” in 2017. Two of the show’s stars Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman both joined executive producer Selena Gomez in getting a semi-colon tattoo to symbolize the suicide awareness movement.

Getting a matching tattoo can be a symbolic way to prove the pair or group’s devotion to each other. It could signify their meaningful relationships. It can also serve as their way to cement how they feel about each other. But couples still need to think twice about getting matching tattoos since these are permanent marks on their skin. It would be hard to remove these without feeling any pain if the relationship ultimately ends.
