She may be 55 years of age, but Michelle Obama could easily pass for someone 20 years younger. Her clear complexion, rosy glow, and dewy skin is the envy of millions of women around the world. Sadly, Michelle’s skin care secrets have been a relatively close guarded secret for years. But, now her facialist has revealed how the former first lady keeps her skin looking fabulous.

The power of vitamins

Jennifer Brodeur was introduced to Michelle on her 50th birthday and ‘the skin guru’ has been working with Obama ever since. Despite Michelle’s skin always looking it best, Brodeur has revealed that she doesn’t use skin peels or exfoliators on it. Instead, she focuses on increasing the amount of vitamin A and vitamin C on the star’s skin in order to combat hyperpigmentation and to keep her complexion looking perfect. What’s more, vitamin A has the power to reduce the effects of aging, and it’s safe to say that it’s definitely working for Michelle who looked positively glowing at the recent Grammy Awards.

Red carpet ready

Michelle’s appearance at the Grammy’s was unexpected, however, once people got over the shock, they couldn’t stop raving about how amazing she looked. Despite her glowing skin looking effortless, it would have taken some time to achieve.

Before any big event, Brodeur will carry out a vitamin C facial which is collagen based. Collagen is a crucial skin care component as it plumps the skin and makes it look firmer, healthier, and younger, so it’s no surprise that it’s a staple in Obama’s red carpet regimen.

“I use a gel-based collagen in which I’ll infuse vitamin C and then I’ll use oxygen to make sure the skin absorbs as much as possible. And then I always incorporate our LED device, which is called Max,” she confirms.

Michelle’s favorite products

So other than an investment in a personal facialist, what’s the secret to Michelle’s perfect skin? It’s all in the products, according to Brodeur. She says that Michelle favors Peoni’s WithinUs collagen supplement, which is part of Brodeur’s own range of skin care products. Another go-to Peoni product is its L’extrait oil. Not only does the oil boast anti-inflammatory and hydration benefits, but Michelle likes to use it on her cuticles to keep them soft too.

However, if you yearn for skin like Michelle’s but can’t quite afford these pricey products, there’s no need to worry. Thankfully, her makeup artist, Carl Ray, highly praises Kiehl’s Ultra Facial cream which costs around $30, as well as bargain skin cleanser Cetaphil which can be picked up for less than $10.

America’s former first lady recognizes the importance of self-love and putting herself first. And, this has carried through to her skin care routine. No matter how busy she is, what family do she has on, or how many events she needs to attend, she always cleanses and moisturizes her skin with serums and creams, according to Brodeur.

“The whole gesture of cleansing your skin and applying your serums and creams, all of those things you can do for yourself and it’s the best display of self-love — it’s not vanity,” she says.

Michelle Obama’s youthful and glowing skin is the envy of millions of women. However, now that her personal facialist has revealed her beauty secrets, you can replicate her regimen in the comfort of your own home.
